The group designated Group 2 has met on Thursdays in Rochester Library but since lockdown has met online. The group’s focus has been towards Current Affairs and Sociology. The group selected the topics for discussion and voted on the order for the topics to be discussed:

1. Has Russia unintentionally reset world alliances?
2. Electric vehicles - is the date of 2030 for phasing out petrol/diesel new cars feasible and are electric vehicles the answer?
3. Fossil fuels - can we develop and rely on other sources of energy to replace these?
4. Has the pandemic changed the world of work permanently and what are the implications for employees and employers?
5. What will the covid enquiry achieve? (Particularly given it may not report until 2026).
6. Are the cost of enquiries generally good value and what have they have achieved?
7. Expansion of low emission zones and the implications for cities and its citizens.
